At some point, I started working with the image that each of us has a surfboard . We learn to surf on it from a young age— more or less well. Later, we might even help our own children . Sometimes we can ride along with someone else if we've fallen in , but we should always get back on our own. We can also sometimes take someone with us on our surfboard , but even then, we should definitely teach them how to sit down and stand up again on their own surfboard .
There's no shame in falling off; sometimes you feel like you're going under and drowning, but our surfboard is attached to our foot with a safety leash and is just waiting for you to lie back on it. It will support us, even if we stay lying down.
